Interventions
Crystal Clay has conducted many successful interventions in the Houston area, and this is due to her unique ability to structure interventions based on the individual needs and lifestyles of her clients.
She utilizes both direct and indirect intervention strategies to address substance abuse and addiction issues by focusing on the impact of addiction, maladaptive behaviors, and co-dependent relationships. When using the direct intervention approach, Crystal works with the family and friends of the addicted person to coordinate an in-person intervention in which she guides the family in a direct confrontation with the addicted person, which allows them to discuss how they have been personally impacted by their loved one’s addiction. This is done with the goal of helping the addicted person realize how his or her addiction has negatively affected those he or she cares about while highlighting their damaging patterns of behavior and need for treatment. The indirect intervention approach involves working intensely with the family, friends, and colleagues of the addicted person so that they may process the impact the addicted person has had on their lives and well-being. They work to develop skills that will improve their ability to effectively change the way they interact with the addicted person, end enabling/co-dependent behaviors, and encourage the addicted person to enter treatment.
